Guy Stilson

GWS 01.jpg

Guy Stilson has been a civil litigator for over 30 years. He has been lead trial counsel in over 200 personal injury and wrongful death cases in state and federal courts, handling matters from initiation of the lawsuit through trial and entry of judgment. Guy has also been very active representing clients before state and federal courts of appeal: he has a number of published appellate opinions to his credit and for 10 years served as chair of the appellate department of his former law firm. Guy has written articles for several legal periodicals and has spoken on legal topics at several law schools and at private seminars.

Public service has always been very important to Guy. He has been on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, even serving as president. Guy’s dedication to public service has been recognized by the State Bar of California, which awarded him the Wiley W. Manuel Award, and also by the Bar Association of San Francisco, which awarded him the Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service Award. Guy has also received multiple Certificates of Service from the Santa Clara and San Francisco Superior Courts for his work as a temporary judge.

One of Guy’s earliest experiences with the law was before he attended law school, when he worked in his father’s office (his father was a lawyer in San Rafael) and did paralegal work on a case where his father represented a young boy who had been burned over 75% of his body in a house fire and underwent over 40 surgeries to address his injuries. That experience taught Guy about how the injuries that burn victims suffer are different from the types of injuries suffered in more typical accidents, including not only severe physical injuries requiring lengthy and extremely expensive medical care, but also long-lasting emotional trauma, disfigurement, and social damages.

After a successful career, Guy is now semi-retired although his concern for his clients still keeps him busy: Guy has an ‘of counsel’ relationship with The Regan Firm and also consults with and regularly provides legal services for a number of other prominent California personal injury firms.
